VKİ Hesaplayıcı Hakkında
The GuruAlpha BMI Calculator computes your Body Mass Index from height and weight, displaying the result with category classification (underweight, normal, overweight, obese) and health recommendations. The calculator supports both metric and imperial units.
BMI (Body Mass Index) is a widely used screening tool that estimates body fat based on height and weight. While not a direct measure of body fat, BMI correlates well with more direct measures and is used by healthcare professionals as an initial assessment tool. The World Health Organization (WHO) uses BMI categories to define weight status.
The calculation is simple: BMI = weight (kg) ÷ height² (m²). For imperial units: BMI = (weight (lbs) × 703) ÷ height² (in²). The tool performs both calculations automatically based on your unit selection. Enter your height and weight, and the BMI appears instantly with the category classification.
The category breakdown provides context: Underweight (BMI < 18.5), Normal weight (18.5-24.9), Overweight (25-29.9), Obese Class I (30-34.9), Obese Class II (35-39.9) and Obese Class III (40+). Each category includes general health implications and recommendations.
The visual BMI scale shows your position on a spectrum from underweight to obese, with the healthy range highlighted. This visual representation helps you understand where your BMI falls relative to the categories. The tool also notes BMI limitations: it doesn't account for muscle mass, bone density, age or body composition.

VKİ Hesaplayıcı Hakkında Sıkça Sorulan Sorular
What is a healthy BMI?
18.5-24.9 is the WHO's normal weight range. Below 18.5 is underweight. 25-29.9 is overweight. 30+ is obese.
Does BMI account for muscle?
No. BMI uses only height and weight. Athletes and muscular individuals may have high BMI with low body fat. Other measurements provide better context.
Is BMI accurate for everyone?
BMI is a screening tool with limitations. It may not accurately reflect body fat in athletes, elderly, pregnant women or people with unusual body compositions.
What is the ideal weight for my height?
The tool calculates the weight range that corresponds to a healthy BMI (18.5-24.9) for your specific height.
